
Rivera's Bio
Jason is the co-owner/founder of the fire service training company NorthEast Squad Concepts LLC, which specializes in “squad disciplines” such as engine company operations, vehicle extrication, rope rescue and RIT.
Jason Rivera is a 30-year veteran of the fire service, serving in both career and volunteer departments. He works for the New Haven, CT Fire Department and is currently assigned as the Driver of Rescue Co. 1, the citywide heavy rescue company. Previously Jason was assigned to the busiest engine in the city, Engine Company 6, serving the Dixwell/Newhallville neighborhoods.
Prior to working in New Haven, Jason retired at the rank of Captain from the City of Stamford, CT Fire Department where he spent most of his 16-year career on Rescue Company 1, the citywide heavy rescue company.

In 2016, Jason received the Ray Downey Courage and Valor Award at FDIC after receiving 2nd and 3rd degree burns on both his legs, waist and wrist while operating at a structure fire in New Haven where a successful rescue was made.
Jason is also a Rescue Specialist for the Massachusetts Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 1 (MATF-1) and is a past Chief for the Newtown Hook and Ladder Fire Company in Newtown, CT where he volunteers for the community he lives in. He also is a volunteer Firefighter in Christiana, DE.
